Hello,

Does anyone have a solution to machine hanging and freezing during an upgrade of 2KProf to XP. Occurred during the installation step - now I can neither continue the upgrade or stepback to the Win 2KProf.

Thanks

I don't think you can go back now - you're sort of past the point of no return.

Best bet would be to hook your hard drive up to another computer as a slave and back up any data that is still on there. Then do a clean install of XP overwriting everything that exists (even deleting existing partitions to start fresh). Get your data off first or it's bye bye.

If no data, then no worries.

Yes, I agree with you but was wondering

Now, something had slipped me - I have been doing this upgrade on a RAID Drive. Should I have broken the RAID before attempting the upgrade?

If it's a hardware RAID setup then NO, I wouldn't break the RAID (unless you wanted to totally destroy all the data and start fresh).

Assuming it's RAID 1, you could break the mirror, install XP and then remirror, but I don't see any reason to.

If your doing mirroring withing Windows, it will be broken by the installation.
