Xp SP2 and DSL

I downloaded the Xp Sp2 and now my dsl can not pick up the gateway address from my dsl ISP. I spoke to verizon they said everything is fine on their end. I uninstalled sp2 or so I thought but there still seems to be some type of registary corruption what might be corrupted?
or do I go a head with a full reinstall of XP?

at this point, since you have installed and un-installed the SP2, i suggest you try a system restore first. then if need be a repair installation. if you are still having problems then do a clean install of XP.

once you get XP back on your box with everything working then try the SP2 update.

i disabled the XP firewall and use Zone Alarm and the update went without a hitch.
