Hi guys

This is a problem I have now seen several times in XP SP1 and hope somebody else has as I cannot seem to find any reference to it from Microsoft.

When I connect using XP SP1 PPTP connection if I ping a host on the internal LAN I get at least 50% packet loss, (not good on a VPN). If I ping the external address of the router it is fine.
My previous machine was Windows XP, no service pack, no updates (if it ain't broke don't fix it.) It worked brilliant, never got this problem.

Today as a test I tried the same connection, that gave me packet loss on XP SP1, on a Windows 98 machine. Worked fine with no packet loss.

Anybody seen this or got any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

In the networking options for the connection, uncheck the box for 'Negotiate multi-link for single link connections'.

That one often causes problems, generally dependent upon combination of the client and server software.

If that doesn't help, I would throw a packet sniffer on one of the clients and see if anything looks odd.

I too am experiencing this problem with packet loss. Did you ever find a solution?
