I have a pc with XP as the operating system. On the system, I have an application. I need to run the application remotely from another XP pc. I have mapped to the hard drive and folder on the host pc where the application is stored. On the remote pc, I can see the whole hard drive of the host pc and all folders. I can enter the folders and look around. When I try to run this application from the remote pc, it tells me that a certain file is missing or inaccessible. I don't understand because from the remote pc, I can go diretly to the "missing" file on the host pc and look at it yet it refuses to execute. Any suggestions?

When you remotely execute the program, it still references local drive resources (your local workstation, not the remote workstation.)

The files are missing on your machine, not the remote machine. Install the application locally.

Or, use Remote Desktop.
