XP Restricted permissions

Hi

I have an interesting problem with my xp laptop that I could do with some guidance on. The PC was installed from an image rather than a standard install, I have local admin rights & no group policies are being applied (that I can see with gpedit anyway) yet I can't view or amend any network properties or look at the dependencies tab in the services applet.

Normally this wouldn't bother me but I can't install Visual Studio down to permissions & think this may be related. Any idea where a setting like this could be set (I was thinking that it must be permissions on a hive in the registry)?

I get the same issue whether I log in locally or from our domain.

You could try the Built-in Administrator User, either in Safe Mode or Normal Mode, as a possible workaround.

This may provide a permanent solution.
