Hi,
I have a very puzzling problem. Windows XP Pro systems on both sides. I enable Simple Sharing on both systems. I set up the same username on both systems, with no password, so that they can gain access without a login prompt. I set up one folder for sharing on unit 1. I go to unit 2 and I can see it and use it. Everything is OK.
I then shut down and restart both machines. Unit 1 gives an error saying 'Due to security reasons I'm disabling your shared folder.' Unit 2 starts with no error but it get prompted for a username and password when it tries to access UNit 1. Even after giving it a username and password, it says I don't have rights. I have to go back into SHARING on the folder in Unit 1 and run through the Wizard again before it'll work properly. Then it'll work fine until Unit 1 is rebooted again.
I checked and any firewall I could find on Unit 1 has been disabled. I don't have SP2 on these systems yet because of problems bewteen SP2 and some other things I run. I've looked on Microsoft's site and elsewhere but can't seem to find any indication of a solution to this.
What 'security' must I turn off to stop XP from resetting my shared configuration on reboot? I have filtering and firewalls on my main gateway, so I don't mind disabling ALL security if it means getting it to stop being so annoying. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
