Xp remote desktop dial-up error

2 Machines both setup with Remote desktop through dial-up worked OK with initial tests.

A few days later I can't dial in, remote modem answers but does not connect, I get "Opening port error 678 remote computer did not respond".

a)I'm told remote computer settings have not changed
b)computers have been rebooted

Where do I start ? the job is 2 hours drive each way.

Although it does not relate exactly to your problem, the error code is the same and I have a feeling it will point you in the right direction.
