I have an IBM T40 laptop running Windows XP. After I login the laptop will just reboot.

maybe try to see if you can login to safemode and run regedit. the search under the run key to see if you find anything possible virus related....

Does it go through the entire reboot process, or does it just return to the logon/Welcome screen?

If you go to my computer and right click and then go to properties and then to advanced, then to recovery (settings), click on that and see the check mark on "system failure". Uncheck that.
What may be happening is that you have a hardware or software issue to take care of and the system is restarting because of it.

Good advice + great people = tek-tips
