Thanks for reading!

First question,
Does server need 2 nics for vpn set up?

If not, can you please help with configuration.

I have one server(not domain, workgroup only) with one Nic, future Win Xp pro as a client/s dialup ISP or DSL, and a Linksys DSL router BEFSR41 (Using DHCP, with the port 1723 already forwarded to server IP address. Enabled the required passthroughs aswell.

When I first attempted to setup VPN using Windows 2000 advance server, It asks me to specify which internet connection the server uses, but only shows <No internet connection> and Local Area Connection (which is the connection that goes to the router, my LAN connection as well as my Cable connection). When I try to select that connection, it tells me that I have selected the last available connection as the internet connection, and that a VPN Server requires one connection be used as a private network connection. That is all i can do, will not let me go further.
How can I get around this?? Any advise is greatly appriciated.

End result would like to get xp pro in one city to connect to central office computer server with files to access for transfer, both offices have dsl connection.

Thank you very much for your help!

Choose the <No internet connection>. This is specifying if you want to allow your remote VPN user to have internet access, but since you are only wanting your remote vpn user to have access to files then an internet connection for the remote user is not required. Remember when setting up the client side, be sure to not use the internet connection on the remote network.
