We have several pc's connected and authenticating via a Remote Access Server. On these pc's, there are shares designated which are accessible by using local machine admin accounts.

The trouble is, they were working fine with service pack 2. We 'upgraded' to service pack 3 and those shares are no longer visible.

Anyone else had problems like this?

There is some talk that if the Window's Firewall becomes disabled in Services or in the Firewall configuration this may interfere with Shares being accessed.

Access denied: Is there a trick to connecting to an XP SP3 share from Vista

Try "Safe Mode with Networking"

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista

Have you tried removing and then recreating the Shares?

linney,

We're not connecting with Vista, we're still a predominantly XP shop.
We haven't tried removing and recreating the shares either after the install. I'll give that a try.
I'll and also take a look at the links and see if anything there helps out, but I won't be able to try any of those until next week.

Thanks!

Turns out that the fix for this ended up being to add the 'Peer-to-Peer' service.

This setting is in:
Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs->Add/Remove Windows Components->Networking Services and check the box for Peer-to-Peer

Thank you for the feedback, I am sure it will help others with similar problems.

Did you discover this yourself or do you have a link you can post here with any further details?

Actually, I mentioned the above suggestions to one of my co-workers, and he said 'Thanks, but I finally got it working.'
He said he was determined to find the answer, so he went to one of the remote locations over the weekend, sat down and fiddled with it for several hours until he got it working.

So it was just a trial and error thing.

Thanks again for taking the time to try and help though!
