I am supplying a couple of specialist panel PCs based on an ALI chipset. Aparently, this chipset is not recognised in XP SP2, causing installation to hang.

The "workaround" offered by the PC manufacturer is to install XP original, install drivers and apply SP2. This we have done (using our "for internal use only partner pack XP Pro) and everything is fine.

BUT I cannot buy XP Pro OEM - I can only buy XP Pro OEM SP2. I have tried a few of the key updating tips but the new SP2 keys do not seem to be accepted by the "old" version of XP.

I could just stick the sticker with the XP SP2 key on the PC case and hope for the best - but I have legitimately purchased XP SP2 keys and would like to install them properly.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received - my customer is screaming blue murder at me!

Contact Microsoft per phone, and explain the situation to them, I am quite sure that they will give you the correct keys...

Surely there is a bios flash upgrade to make this board work with XP2?
SIS had a similar problem when SP2 was released but board manufacturers quickly introduced updated flash files to make their boards comply.
