XP Pro "repaired" OK - but now won't share directories?

As the subject states - after having direct-x and other issues with XP Pro I ran a "repair" from the distro CD. Went just fine and seems like everything was working. But today no one in my household can access my shared directories.

I've checked all the sharing controls and they all seem fine (unchanged from prior to the repair). So what might I look at to hopefully overcome this frustrating issue?

Thanks all [nosmiley]

Besides checking the Shared access permissions have a look at the NTFS access permissions too.

See if giving the "Everyone" group access solves the problem.

Error Message: "Access Is Denied" When You Try to Open NTFS File System Folders

What firewalling and other security programs are you running? Make sure they are set correctly for folder sharing.

What is the exact error message you are getting?

one thing you could also attempt, after checking with what Linney suggested, would be to UNSHARE, reboot and then RECREATE the shares...

also make sure that the users accessing the shares are also present on the system where the share resides, and that they use the same password...
