I can view .htm pages in my local host but when i try to view a .asp page it brings up the file download dialog, anyone have any suggestions? Running IIS 5.1 with XP Pro up to date.
ASP pages can only be processed by a IIS or equivalent, so you won't be abble to run ASP page by a localhost url such as "file://...". Use only real url like "
In further digging, in my IIS control panel in configurations i can't find mapping for .asp to the asp.dll, when i try to add it [or any mapping] the "ok" button is greyed out. I am 99.99999% sure i have admin rights, any idea why this is, or how to check if i do have the rights?
may be you should post this to IIS forum, You should get more advice, no ???
By the way, did you try to reach your asp pages from another machine ? Water is not bad as long as it stays out human body ;-)
Thanks, i actually got the server mapping problem fixed, it is a microsoft bug that greys out the "ok" box, but now i get an error when the page loads with this message in the log..
"The server failed to load application ''. The error was 'The specified metadata was not found."
I posted it in the IIS forum like you suggested, just thought maybe you might know tho. thanks so much for all the help.
