Hi,
I'm scheduled to take the 70-270 exam tomorrow morning. I've done a number of the Comptia exams, but never a Microsoft exam. Here's where I'm at...

I've read the Sybex XP-Pro book, and reread parts I had trouble with. I've seen the CBT Nuggets videos. I've been through most of the TestKing questions, and I'm getting about 90% of them. I've also done the bonus exams with that came with the Sybex book, and am only missing on a couple questions there.

Are these tests a good representation of what I'll see on the exam, or am I going to get blindsided like I did on the CCNA?? I've basically got a full day left to study. Is there anything in particular I should review, or study?

PS. What's a passing score for the MS exams? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere...

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Passing score is 700, but you can't score below their acceptable limits in any certain area (IE, ace one section but completely blow another section).

The M$ exams are harder than the comptia exams (A+ and Network+). I took my exam and was just hoping to pass. It is a broad exam.

Some people don't like testking study aids. But what ever helps. If you are scoring 90% on them (and you actually understand the information, not just memorizing the answer), you will do just fine.

Good Luck. Let us know how you do.

Thanks for the information. This is my first time through the TestKing practice exams, so it's not memorization. The only thing that I'm finding is that there are some syntax questions which are kind of a BS way of making it harder. Some of the questions are also a little ambiguous, where they don't give enough info to make the correct answer difinitive, and it could be more than one of the possible answer.

Well, hopefully it will all go well...

In a perfect world (or imperfect, depending on your definition), all braindumps would have the actual exam questions and correct answers verbatim. They would also have clear explanations as to why the incorrect answers are wrong.

In reality, this is not the case, and that companies profit by selling "products" with incorrect or missing answers to questions that may or may not appear on the exams is irresponsible.

That said, if you know the material well enough, you should have a fighting chance. Once you've seen the style that Microsoft uses with exam questions, you'll be better prepared for the next exam, so either way you'll get something out of the exam.

As a parting word, the most useful advice I can offer is not to try to pick the most correct answer, but rather to eliminate the ones that are not correct.

Well, I passed!! I got a 968. I'm not sure what it's out of, but a 700 is a pass so it works for me. Now time to move onto 70-290...

Thanks for the tips and advice from everyone here.

Paul

What a great score! That is awesome. Keep it rolling! That is basically an "aced" exam. Nicely done Paul.

Thanks. It feels good to have it done.
I felt bad for the guy beside me. I noticed when I signed out that he was there for the same XP exam. He had started 1/2 an hour before me, and was still in there when I left. He seemed to be getting pretty frustrated. Hopefully he passed...

If you study 70-270 isn't that hard.. a lot easier then the server exams, i've gone for the 70-290 3 times and came just short of passing.. everytime it is a different area of expertise. and I use Windows Server 2003 everyday at work, I am the only IT guy for a small company, installed it and everything.but then it also depends on which test bank you get too. Don't try to come out remembering all the questions that were asked and studying just those as it is a very unlikely event that you will get those again(I knew this going in), in fact I wouldn't doubt that it checks your name when you signin to see which questions were on the last exam if you are retaking. either way i think each test bank is upwards of 300 questions, and there are multiple 1's.
