I have 3 pc's in a training room displaying same systems. All three are in constant reboot loop. PC's display normal XP splash screen with progress bar then screen flickers and show please wait windows 2000 box. I can boot in safe-mode and OK but safe-mode with network also displays windows 2000 screen and reboots. Sophos virus scan and malwayebytes come back clean. Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated

By "windows 2000 box" and "windows 2000 screen" do you mean the username/password/domain logon prompt? If so, are you logging on to a domain or the local machine? If you use another user account can you log on?

Were these machines infected with some malware that was cleaned up?

Lastly, have you tried System Restore from Safe Mode?

Thanks for reply. In normal mode I do not get a chance to log in so I can not try another user. It is a 2003 domain and computer accounts in AD show no errors.
I ran system restore in safe-mode with no same results
Virus scan and malwarebytes both come back as clean nothing detected.
Windows 2000 screen is the please wait preparing network connections
PC's are in training room so I am going to drop in image on 2 of them tonight and look into the third in detail. I do not like the not knowing why part

Is it some Group Policy Setting? Perhaps something like this?

"Note that Windows XP clients support Fast Logon Optimization in any domain environment. To turn off Fast Logon Optimization, you can use the following policy setting:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\ Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon
When this policy is enabled, a Windows XP client behaves in the same manner as a Windows 2000 client at both system startup and at user logon."

Linney and Smah, Thanks for replies. I never did find a cause and unfortunately I do not have time this week to dig deeper. So I am just dropping images on pc's for a fix.
