Can anyone point me to some documentation on how to create a custom image of XP to deploy using RIS?

Also, within this image, does it have the ability to include pre-installed applications, Office, Acrobat, WinZIP, etc., sort of like a Norton Ghost image, or is RIS strictly for deploying the OS and that is it?

From my understanding you can only use SMS to do an upgrade to the OS.

Thanks

Dom

There's a lot of documentation on TechNet - do a search on Windows 2000 and RIS. Yes, you can preinstall applications. We used RIS for our deployment and it worked great - now we're running into driver issues because the newer machines we're getting now need different drivers than what's available in XP, but other than that, it's gone well. You do have to be careful about applying patches to your image that modify the ntoskrnl.
