I have a new server that I bought from Dell with SBS2003 preinstalled. I installed some applications on it. I added a couple of users and computers. One is an XP machine. It seems to connect fine to the new server. I can look at all the shared folders. I cannot run the applications. I get access denied errors. One of these applications requires SQL - I eventually get that SQL server does not exist or access is denied to the user.

I have never installed a server so if I have left out any information please allow me the chance to supply it.

Note: The other computer is Win98 - and there are a host of problems with it that I will address in a different thread.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I got this down to only 2 errors (from 13)! I still get: The following has occurred in OpenConnections: Login failed for user 'company\user' access id denied but only once. Then it opens the SQL Server Connection Setup screen. Again no matter what I choose...I get: The following error has occurred in program OpenConnections:[DBNETLIB]
> {ConnectionOpen(connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
> Error Number: 0.

I went into my SBS2003 and under the application's shared folder's properties I clicked Publish this share in the Active Directory under the Publish tab. Then under the Security tab I gave users (company\Users) Full Control. This got rid of 11 errors.

I still cannot run my application - but maybe I am getting closer. (I can have hope can't I? Without hope ...)

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

Problem is solved. Thanks.
