I have a winXP pro laptop trying to hook up to the domain. PDC is a Win NT 4.0 server. I added the machine name as a workstation in Server Manager.
I had this machine on the domain, however, when I tried to map network shares, it could browse the File server, but would not tree out the shares. I took it off the domain and put it in a workgroup. Then I deleted the machine out of the NT 4.0 server "server manager."
Now I have a problem getting it back on the domain.
When changing from workgroup to domain on XP laptop, it tells me:
The Domain controller can't be contacted. Ensure the domain name is typed correctly. I know it's typed correctly.
If I push help, it says the following:
The following error occured when DNS was queried for Service location (SRV) resource record used to locate domain controller for domain XXX. DNS name does not exist.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
