My system is amd 2100+ with asus MB A7V333 with 4 drives (3 40's and one 120 which is C:) Due to general problems with my system and problem loading the upgrade OS from xp home I decided to wipe everything. The 3 slave drives I formated from inside the os into NTFS of course. On C: I used fdisk to mess it up enough to force the new instalation of xp to do its own format of the drive and clean everything up. Once everything was done, My primary C: is workng fine but I do not have acces to the 3 others. On startup after scanning the IDE drives they show up as functional but once the OS is running, I can't locate them using either device manager or component services. The only time they show up is in boot sequence.

How can I get them back? I don't really want to format my C: again because if have been building it back up and I don't want to lose it.

You must have an IDE controller card in the box with that many drives. Did you load the driver for it and does it show in device manager? Those boards have an optional Promise 20276 RAID 0 controller. If your board has it, is it enabled in CMOS setup? Is "Plug & Play OS" enabled in CMOS setup? I'll think of some more in awhile...

I understand that this could be an issue but all four drives were working before I formated them and I do not recall having to load a driver to suport the additional drive when I loaded it. I don't really want to endable raid because I don't want to lose the space that raid takes up (though i might be misunderstanding your sugestion).

Did you use a program called GoBack prior to the reformat?
