We are using an old program App-link, to connect to two mixer computers that are part of our production process.

These 2 mixers can be monitored remotely by any computer on the internal network but will not work through our VPN.

A Lap top running XP Pro can see the mixers in real time from our internal network but when the computer is brought home and connected to the network via our VPN the real time portion of the Monitoring is unavailbe.

The reason for the confusion is that another laptop running Windows 2000 has no trouble viewing the real time mixing over the VPN.

Is there a difference between how XP and Win2K use the VPN? Has anyone used App-link?

Thanks in advance!

Remember,XP has a firewall.

I am still having problems with XP and accessing our mixers over our VPN.

As it turns out the Applink program seeks out the local IP address on the remote machine and connects to the mixer computers via the VPN.

In XP the IP that Applink finds is the remote computers ISP IP address and not the address assigned by the VPN.

In NT the IP that Applink finds is the IP assigned by the VPN.

NT works, XP does not.

Is there a different location for the VPN address IP in XP vs. NT?

How would the Applink program in XP find the correct IP address such that the Remote computer and the mixer are on the same network and allow RealTime Monitoring?

Thanks again!

a real easy way to work around this problem is to install VMware Workstation software and create an NT or 2000 OS session within it and in that session run your monitoring program.

and which vpn client do you use?
