I'm newbie in Linux.

Yesterday, i've installed Mandrake 9.1 on a different HD than XP.

After the insttallation, Mandrake said that i have to reboot to use Linux.

When i tried to boot i don't have any choice of the OS.

How can i change the setup to create a mutliboot from WIN XP PRO?

I'm not able to reech Linux.

I know that Linux is on the HDA drive on partition 1 and Windows XP is on HDB partition 1 but how i should modify the boot.ini to reach Linux?

I've search on the web about LILO and GRUB but all information i've find is made from Linux and i can't start with it.

Any help will be appreciate !!! [sadeyes]

Use a Liunux boot disk and configure grub... or always us ea linux boot disk to get to linux.... else look into BootQuest or other Partiation Magic tool.

A handfull of thoughts:

1. Consider allowing Linux to manage the multiboot configuartion (you said you wanted it managed from Windows, I know). Linux handles this more eligantly. Use the GRUB boot loader and create an entry that points to each OS. You can find it in /etc/grub.conf (or thereabouts) and you should be able to find demo grub.conf files online to use as a template.

2. If you do indeed want to use boot.ini, you'll need an "ARC path" entry that looks something like this:

multi(0)rdisk(0)disk(0)partition1(and a path to the boot image for Linux - I'm not sure what it would be) "Mandrake"

There is a Linux Documentation Project HOW-TO on using boot.ini to manage multibooting Linux and Windows. See this (and search for others):
This might at least get you started...
