Hello all,

we are migrating a number of print queues from an nt server to another off-site nt server.

Most of our clients print to unc paths, eg:

\\servername\printer

As NT4 doesn't support aliases we're faced with the unattractive task of visiting every single PC to change the path.

Is there a way of shortcutting this? For example does XP store printer paths in the registry? Could I write a batch/reg file that would update the unc paths automatically?

You can use the con2prt utility. Just google to find it. It can be used via login script to delete and/or ad network printers.

Hi,
Can you change the mapping in your DNS server to 'point' the old name to the new address?
