Hello everyone...

Here's my scenario.

We have an Active Directory domain and I have a user who got a new computer with XP Pro. She is the first in the dept to go to XP, while everyone else is using 2000. Anyway, she is still using her old PC while I setup her new one. I've joined this PC to the domain.
The problem I'm having is that when I login to the domain with her username the PC logs in OK, but as soon as I click on any application (even Control panel) it willcome to a screeching halt and take maybe 10-15 minutes of watching the hour glass and then finally the control panel will pop up. Its quite annoying.

Now if I login to the new PC locally (not the domain) the PC comes right up and i can access any application speedily and can access drives on the server by providing my user and pw...no problem.

Also if i login to the domain on her old PC there is NO problems.

Here's what I've done thus far:
given a static IP and set the DNS IP manually. (instead of DHCP...I thought this might help...but to no avail)
I've also disabled NetBios and LMhosts over tcp/ip..but again to no avail.
I've also double checked settings on the DNS / AD server and all are correct as far as I know.

Why am I getting such "lag" time while connecting to the domain?

(while I write this I am still waiting for the Control panel to come up - over 20 minutes now)

If anyone has any clues...please help!!!

The problem is in DNS and AD. Solution to this:
1. Disjoint the XP from DC.
2. Remove XP computer name from AD as well as from DNS and WINS.
3. Don't disable NetBios and LMHosts over tcp/ip.
4. if you have a DHCP server, use it
5. Restart your computer and Join the domain again with different computer name.
This step will normally take care of it.
