Interesting problem after blue screen...
XP Pro blue screens on boot. Aslo hangs loading drivers in safe mode. Recovery console sees partition and file structure. Dont have ASR disk, and cant reinstall OS onto existing partition. Install sees the NTFS partition and I can select install locatation BUT install immediatly fails with error saying it does not recognize partition.
Also tried installing IDE drive as slave off another XP system but OS will not see partition. Any ideas on recovering files?

You could try to boot off of Partition Magic boot disc and as long as you can see the partition you can have PM try and repair it.

Somethings to look at.

Fixmbr. Repairs the master boot record of the boot disk. The fixmbr command is only available when you are using the Recovery Console.

WinXP Setup Program cannot recognize hard drive ?
