Hi

I have a laptop with a LAN cable connected to the Netgear DGND3300 Wireless-N Dual-Band ADSL Modem Router and internet works on this laptop. Also i have my iPad connected through wireless thro the same router and the internet on my iPad also works fine.

I have Dell XPS PC connected through a lan cable to the same router and iam not able to connect to the internet and when i ping hotmail.com i get request time out.I replaced the LAN cable and connected to a different Lan port and still i get request timed out.

Any help to rectify this problem will be appreciated

Thanks

The Netgear DGND3300 is a good router but unfortunately plagued by firmware issues.

The current version 2.1.00.48 has major Local IPAddress reservation issues, meaning even if you reserve an address for your PC, the next time you boot up either device, the local IPAddress will change.

This impacts on devices like printers and NAS drives most, but can also disturb your PC.

I suggest you have a look in the Netgear Support Forum (there's a link in the router setup interface) which is full of such complaints.

There is an updated firmware version in Beta on trial, which I understand resolves the issues.

Do you receive the correct ip address on your pc.

I think you already did ... but did you ping the router before
pinging the hotmail.com.

I do not think it's dns problem, but tried to ping google.com ip address to make sure your dns is ok.

Let us know if you have solved your problem or not.

Thank

Then there is the good old IP stack corruption that creates this exact same symptom.

netsh int ip reset c:\ipreset.log
