If the user of a new Xp machine chnages his windows password unknown to the admininstrator no one else can
share that PC and login using their normal network password.
How do we overcome this?
Losing the Admin password or any password for the matter has to be one of the most painful things we face in IT. That box sitting in the corner of your office, yes you could reinstall the OS - but wouldn't it be easy to change the password and reboot?
Thankfully I found a solution that I would like to share. Essentially you boot up a Floppy or CD-ROM and that allows you to change the password in the SAM file. How? The boot disk is Linux and simply bypasses Windows.
