Hey guys,

I recently just updated my system to windows xp, unfortunately it states that it recognizes my modem (Agere V.90 (Lucent) “Win Modem”), however my isp software (at&t) during installation can’t detect modem. I hear xp checking my modem during bootup (because it clicks my phone line). I updated the drivers I switched pci slots still the same outcome. any suggestions?

Thanks

First, is the modem detected correctly in Device Manager? Second, can you manually create a new dial-up connection using the network wizard?

To follow on to smah's thinking:

1. See if there are XP specific drivers for the modem. The ones on your XP installation disk were written in the year 2000. If so, download and extract them to a folder.

2. Use Device Manager to uninstall the existing modem.

Reboot. Let XP rediscover the device. Now cancel its attempt to install it.

3. Control Panel, Add Hardware. Add the modem manually, pointing at your new driver set.

Reboot and test.
