Hi All
Please can someone help.......
I have a w2k network with a couple of XP pro machine with fixed IP addresses. Up until a couple of weeks ago all was fine and dandy - then for some reason I got the problem of one of the XP machine logging all users off as soon as they logged on. I fixed this problem with this
Start the recovery console and then expanded userinit.exe from the windows xp cd
d:
cd i386
expand userinit.ex_ c:\windows\system32
....now it can't see the network.
I can ping any computer
It is registered in Active Directory on the DC
I can find any computer through AD locally but if I search for a computer by name - no results.
The Entire Network is empty.
Have disconnected and reconnect to the domain
Have renamed the XP machine
I have reinstalled XP
All the other XP machines are fine
Settings are as follows
compter name computer12345
domain domain123.local
LAN Settings
Client for MS Networks
F&P Sharing
TCP/IP
192.168.0.109
255.255.255.0
192.168.0.253
Use DNS
192.168.0.253 Append primary DNS checked
WINS Enable Netbios over TCP/IP checked
Finally it will allow me to connect to my Exchange server so I know it can see the network and if I look at the LAN connection status it is sending and receiving packets okay.
The internet connection is through the LAN and that works fine too
Any suggestion would be very gratefully received
Thanks
Jacqui
