I joined a newly imaged xp pro machine to our domain. After 1 day the user started having login errors, it said it could not contact the domain or the domain controller was down. Joined the computer to a workgroup rebooted then back to the domain. Worked fine for a few hours then same problem. I noticed that no matter how many times I added it to the domain the Operating system tab for the computer account in AD is always blank when the rest of the systems have XP SP2. Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks

Try joining the PC to the workgroup. Then manually delete the computer account from AD. Change the computer name. Then manually enter the computer name in AD prior to joining the computer to the domain.

Did that just a little while ago, same problem. OS does not show up in account tab.

What type of domain controllers are you using, Windows 2000 server? Also, make sure that your XP machine has all the updates applied to it and that the Windows Firewall is turned off.

Using Windows 2000 Domain Controllers, All updates are applied as well as SP2, Default Domain policy turns firewall off, it is off now.

After you join the domain, you can login, but when the problems occur has there been a anything done to the account ie) PC restart, account logout.

Because i have come across PC images that would not allow permanent changes made to the image. You can make temporary changes but if the PC was restarted it would revert back to the original image.

Or

There could have been something wrong with the image that was used.
