Unlike Windows 2000, I am finding that Windows XP does not keep the previous user's name in the "user name" field at the logon in prompt. I looked in the registry, and it looks like the default user name and domain are correct, but it will not "hold" the previous user name, the field is always blank. Any clues out there on how to display the previous user name?

Thanks,

Duane

Try

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\Current version\Policies\system

DWord: Dontdisplaylastusername

Or you can use the local policy editor under your admin tools. It's under 'Local Policies - Security Options - Do Not Display Last User Name'

I tried both ways.... and they worked just fine...Mike2287 and Staticfactory - thank you both for the help - you guys rock!
