XP install hangs on "loading files (PCI Bus Driver")"

AMD 1800 Ram 512
Issue:
Windows XP install hangs at "loading files (PCI Bus Driver")"
I have tried using more than one xp pro CD and more than one known good cdrom drive Same issue with floppes
I have flashed the bios with latest version.
There are no pci cards in pc
I have tried disabling lan and sound cards on bios
I have cleared the cmos
Video is a Geforce 4 agp.
Im thinking bad mobo but am up for ideas.

 
It may be cheaper to check your RAM and hard drive first.


The drive manufacturer will have free diagnostic software to check your drive for problems.


Have you tried turning off any virus checking in the Bios and disconnecting any USB devices?

Is this a clean install of XP or are you upgrading from another operating system?

Posting a question in this site's hardware forum might be worthwhile.
 
If this is a new purchase, you should seriously consider an RMA return of the motherboard.

There is something wrong on the PCI subsystem.
