I have a rather peculiar situation.
A friend owns a laptop. Their house is currently setup with a linux server with everyone using windows 98 except this person with the laptop. The laptop cannot resolve the DHCP server, and when I hardcode all the information in, it still cannot ping anyone on the network. As a test, I brought the laptop to my house where we have a linux server, and people running various types of windows. It worked fine at my house. So I'm rather confused as to why it doesn't work at their house. I'm pretty sure it's software issue, since the computer works on other networks, and I tested the cord (just in case).
I was wondering if anyone had problems like this? I'm pretty sure it has something to do with XP, but I am not an XP expert and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions I could try.
Thanks
