For some reason after sitting idle my XP Pro SP2 is coming up with a blue screen with error message "Hardware Malfunction, call your hardware vendor for support; NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error **The System Has Halted**.

Other than checking the functionality of all hardware, has anyone seen this before and have any suggestions? thanks.

This could be also caused by Heat issue, ergo. a faulty Hardware piece heating up and going out...

1.) I would first clear the CMOS, reset it to default values...

2.) run a MemTest on the RAM, possible faulty...

3.) take out all PCI cards and add one at a time, until the problem reoccurs, that way you know if it is a PCI card or the mobo/CPU...

4.) try a new or a known good functioning PSU, could be under powering there aswell...

just some thoughts...
