I had installed xp home on my D: drive (had 2k pro on C:) and would like to uninstall it.

HOw do i do that ? can't think of option to do this. I believe my install CD had the i386 directory and wasn't a full retail CD.

any suggestions? thank you in advance.

If you've upgraded to XP from Windows Me or Windows 98, go to the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel applet and click Uninstall Windows XP.

If you want, you can also uninstall XP from the command prompt by performing the following steps:

Start the computer in Safe Mode with Command Prompt support (press F8 during start up).

Navigate to %systemroot%\system32. This is usually c:\Windows\system32

Type osuninst.exe and press Enter.

Follow the onscreen instructions.

If XP was installed as a dual-boot system along with Win98 or W2K then you can simply format the partition on which it is installed. Boot the non-XP OS and use the format command on the XP partition. For Win2k you will need to adjust the boot.ini file to remove the reference to the Windows XP boot option.

Thnx for your input. It's a dual boot system and i have other stuff on D: that i need. XP is sitting in a directory
on D:

I went ahead and deleted the directory, but was looking for the correct uninstall file/proper way to do it.

?
In your case it would be d:\Windows\system32
And this is the official method.

Which SP do you find to be most stable for XP platform?

on another note, What is your experience with sp4 for the 2k ? I used it last nite and it trashed my OS due to failure to complete.

Quadpump,

Only problem I've had with win2K SP4 is immediately after installing it, the reboot after install didn't work properly, but it's been rock solid since.

Only used WinXP Home with SP1 and 1a (both out of the box installed) and both rock solid - had no problems using them both for office applications and CPU intensive activities (I have one box here running Seti@Home which is also used on occasions for rendering video).
