I just formatted my hardrive and did a clean install of xp home. Sometimes it will reboot itself three times before it comes up.
Also I get the message " one of the files containing the systems registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was sucessful"
This happen too often, any suggestions?

Next time you get XP running, turn off auto-reboot on error:

Start -> right click My Computer, click Properties.

Click Advanced tab, and uncheck the "Automatically restart" option.

This will cause XP to "hang" next time it encounters a fatal error instead of rebooting (which was a really funny way for Billy G to be able to claim fewer Blue Screen errors in XP.)

WHen you get a blue screen error message, you can start diagnosing the problem.
