XP Home freezes up? 1

I'm having a huge problem with my Windows XP Home Edition.
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'll give it a try.

My Easy Media Creator 9 will not function properly, or function at all for that matter. It used to work fine until the last couple of days. An error report air message comes up and my machine just freezes up and shuts down.

Also my ImageReady will not save Photoshop files. Never had a problem before. I've tried almost everything and I can't solve this problem, now I'm at my wit's end.

There are several error messages that come up:

Microsoft Visual C++
Runtime Library
Runtime Error R6025

pure virtual function call

program: C/Windows/system32/svchost.exe

Also:

Missing files:

C/Program Files/Roxio/Media Experience/CmDVDreg.exe

cannot access a necessary file

kcams.dll


Also the below message came up at one point as well:

I did a virus scan, C drive defrag, ran Norton's WinDoctor for System errors, says I have invalid registry files. I uninstalled Creator 9 and reinstalled it, nothing has worked so far.

I would most appreciate any suggestions or constructive criticism, if any.

Hopefully someone can help me with a solution, I've never had this problem before with my computer.

I think some more information would help in diagnosing your problem. How big is your hard drive and and how much free space do you have? How much ram do you have? What is your processor speed?

For registry errors you can use RegClean to fix those and do you meet the minimum system requirements?

You can use something like the Belarc Advisor to find out what hardware you have.

How about restarting in safe mode ( hit F8 before windows loads) then log in as an administrator and then do a Windows restore to a date that it was working? You need to be in safe mode because some AVs don't let you do a restore. You to restore by going to start --> programs --> Accessories --> System tools --> System Restore

Probably System Restore is your best bet.

Is the "Cryptographic Services" started and running?

You could look at reregestering the .dll's mentioned in this article to see if that helps.

Thank you all for kindly responding to my dilemma.

As it turns out I needed more memory indeed.

Plus it didn't hurt to install new CD-ROM Burners :^))

It was just a matter of upgrading.

Plus Comcast Cable Modem needs to be replaced, it is old and isn't working proficiently.
