Hi All

I know this is for XP pro but I have a question regarding home edition. Basically my kids go on the computer and somtimes inadvertently download things that install new icons etc on the desktop. Is there a way of password protecting all downloads onto the computer so they would need to enter it before it took place???

Just a thought.

You'll need to make whichever user account they use "Limited" so they can't install anything.

From an Administrator account go into Control Panel and into User Accounts, then find the account they use and set its account type to "Limited".

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

If you have a NTFS partition try these links to beef up Home to something more configurable that you may be able to use to block access.

Alternatively the Security Tab is available via Safe Mode in XP Home.
