Hi, I have a client who is running XP Home (is there an XP Home forum here?) and is running a Windows backup (loaded from the XP Home CD). No matter what type of backup you run, the final "backup finished" window will have a Close button and a Reports button, but the Reports button is always greyed out. Anyone know why this is? I have other clients running the same procedure on XP Home and they have active Reports buttons after backups. The user is running the latest service packs and updates on her machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There is no XP Home forum on this site, it is a site policy position that is not strictly enforced (so Shhhhh!).

Does this user have any Backup logs in this folder?
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME...\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data

Hidden and Systems files may be set to "show" in Folder Options to see the folder.

Is the user an Administrator?

Does the XP Home NT Backup have any uninstall procedure where it can be removed and installed again. Possibly even doing a second install over the top with NT Backup might help if there is no uninstall procedure?

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
