Ok, I read earlier that someone had Radeon 8500 problems with Windows.
I needed to start a new thread simply because Microsoft is forcing me to lose ALL intrest in their products. As it stands, I'm switching to Linux due to issues with XP (What a waste of money)
I recently bought a extensive system upgrade. New Mobo: Asus A7V333. New Processor: AMD Athalon XP 1800+. New Ram: DDR 256Meg PC2100 w/ECC. And unfortunately... a Radeon 8500LE graphics card.
Why unfortunately? XP refuses to work with my card, regardless what I do. I get code 10 errors (system will not use card) ALL the time. The card is not faulty (I returned it once.) I went all the way back to ME, (Under which my 8500 works.) then tried the upgrade, code 28 (No drivers.) install the drivers and system hangs.
I call ATI for tech support, their tech guys are absolutley no use. The are shocked and baffled that XP desires to mess with me over the Radeon Card.
What is wrong with this scenario? I seem to be being forced into purchasing a card that is twice the price of the Radeon (I'm talking Nvidia G3 TI 500) with similiar if not sub-standard performance! Is Nvidia in bed with Microsoft or something?!?
If ANYBODY knows some way to fix these issues... I'de be more than happy for an answer. I've tried everything, I'm not happy, and I am beggining to become vehmently opposed to anything that microsoft has to offer. I've even tired third party drivers, with NO success.
Anyways, I can't rant all night, I have Linux to install.
Anybody with any form of advice, please contact me:
