XP Fatal Error

When i try to reinstall XP, i get as far as the Installing windows screen and then it gives me this Fatal Error message.

An error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing.
ONe of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

and then it tells you to clean the CD but it is already clean. Do i need to get a new copy of the O/S ?

Maybe, but the error could lie anywhere from the IDE channels in the motherboard through the IDE cables to the disc.
