When powering on an IBM x40 my boss finds that he seems to lock up. After the whole windows xp loading screen it goes blank and the mouse cursor appears. After that nothing happens. He closes the laptop and opens it back up getting it to go into stand by. After hitting the Fun + F4 to bring it back out of stand by we can finally get the login screen to come up and login to the client.

I have tried reinstalling the client, checking his bios to confirm the login sequence. Any suggestions appriciated.

It almost sounds like slow dhcp?? I had this type of problem with workstations when connecting to new cisco switches that were not forwarding dhcp until 15 seconds later. If you leave it at the initial locked up stage will the novell login ever appear??

Forgot to ask.... I assumed you were using Netware 6.5 with IP. I would double check to make sure that IP is the main login protocol and remove IPX if not needed.
