I have this problem. For some strange reason when I open network neiborhood on a xp client I see all the computer of the network except other xp clients but when I try to connect with the shared resources on the other machine the sistem can't connect to that. If i use find computer festure with ip adress I can locate all the other computers and can access shared resource too. So my windows xp clients can't resolve names! How can I fix that.
Every client on the network (windows 2000, nt4, windows 98) has only tcp-ip installed and so the xp client. The Pdc has also iPX and netbeui. Other strange thing in the other client and on the pdc I can't locate xp client on the network neighborhood but can locate using find computer by name.
Thanks in Advance.

try installing netbui on the xp machines.
it not available on xp by default but it is on the cd in a valueadd directory.

why do you have ipx on the server? do you have novell servers? ===============

The problem is that I'm not the system administrator who build up the domain (there isn't any one in fact) and I have to work with things like this without knowing why!
I'll try also to remove IPX protocols and see what happened Thank you in advance for your support. I'm not an expert tecnician
