Having trouble setting up a VPN tunnel between 2 computers. Any help would be GREATLY APPRICIATED.

Both locations are using Linksys VPN endpoint routers (BEFSX41). I followed the directions from the Linksys site to setup the VPN Tunnel, and as far as I can tell it is setup right, because when we go into the routers settings and hit connect under the VPN tab it says we are both connected. I can ping the other machine from mine. I am using Windows 7, the other machine is an XP. Niether machine has Windows Firewall turned on. Both machines are using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 with default settings. The Linksys VPN endpoints both have firewall enabled through the routers settings.

Any help would be awesome. And once we are able to ping eachother fine, how do we actaully start sharing files? I read somewhere to type //ip.address/shareddocs in IE.. is that all there is to it? Thanks in advance for any help on the matter.

So, from 7, you can ping XP, but not the other way around? You have end-2-end connectivity then. Ping is 2-way, so it hits the other side and bounces back---you have bi-directional connectivity. The problem is either

1.The Windows 7 machine is blocking pings somehow.
2.The XP machine for some reason doesn't know how to get to the Windows 7 machine.

2 is unlikely, but to eliminate it, try and ping the Windows 7 network's edge router. You need to Google what could stop something from successfully pinging a Windows 7 box (Windows forum, not VPN---your VPN works).

File sharing---yes, you could do it via your browser, but I would just go to Start-->Run and type it in there. By the way, they're back slashes, not forward slashes...

\\ip address\share
not
//ip address/share

like

\\192.168.12.231\Shared_stuff

or

\\192.168.12.231

typing the IP address in only will bring up ALL available shares.
