HI,

I have a problem with an XP Pro installation on my home computer. This is not a new installation, and has been working fine for months. All of a sudden it boots to screen with a dark blue band top and bottom, a medium blue center of the screen and the windows XP logo in the middle. Kinda like the screen where you would choose a user...only there aren't any. There it sits. Mouse is live, keyboard responds to cap lock etc. Nothing else will do anything. I tried going back to last good config. Same thing. I tried booting safe mode, same thing. Can someone give me a cule what to try next?

Jon

how did you try going to last good config?...By booting xp disk? Did you have working video when you did that? Before Windows boots up do you have a screen showing Ram test-master/slave configuration, etc. etc. It could be bad video card or drivers or even your monitor

You could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose your windows updates but your files and programs will be saved.
