XP boot freeze, mouse cursor still moves....

Hello,

Have PC with a via chipset and Nvidia graphics card, SP2. Everything was working fine, but today after some windows updates were installed, windows rebooted and now displays the windows splash screen, but the next screen that is displayed is blank, with just the mouse cursor. I can move the mouse around, but right or left clicking do nothing, and ctr-alt-del do not work. I performed a repair operation using the CD, but still experience the same problem. Any suggestions?

I had that just yesterday. I also have an Nvidea card. I deleted a program, rebooted, and got what you described. I hit reset and everything was OK. I hope we aren't looking at an Nvidea problem!
