I have an issue where users are downloading a zipped mde file off a web server. When they click on the server file, XP is automatically unzipping the file and opening it. The problem is- XP is opening it in read-only mode, so the database won't function correctly. Is there any way that I can change the file attributes of an open database from read-only to non-read-only? If that is not possible- is there any way to easily tell if the database is in a read only state? Thanks for your help,

Jay

Train users to download instead of execute and to extract instead of open.
Another way is to build a SFX.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Train my users! -LOL ;) These are sales guys we're talking about. It is a miracle they even got this far. I will play around with the self extracting zip file like you suggested. I need to find out if the .exe extension may cause security problems when downloading. Thanks for the suggestions.
