Hello,

I have a strange problem. I rebuilt a system for a client, everything was fine when the client left here. He got the computer home and set it up with his monitor. When XP Pro loads up it gets to the portion where it exits boot mode and enters the desktop. The monitor flashes then the screen goes black. The systems stills runs as we can hear things like Yahoo Messenger running in the background and the monitor is not in stand by mode, as the power LED is still green. Just wondering if anybody has come accross this problem, and what they did to fix it?

All replys and help is appreciated,

Thanks,

you set the refresh rate to high. make him boot in safe mode and set refresh rate.

Lemon13 is basically saying that the settings are too high for his old monitor to display.
Starting in safe mode will effectively prevent the display drivers from loading (low res, big icons) so he can reset the display properly.
Typically for 15inch monitor 800x600 16bit 60hz

Thanks for the help, but the refresh rate was'nt the problem. I had to uninstall the drivers in safemode and then reboot the PC. Running perfect now.

Thanks,
