XP and MS Access 97

I have user under XP 6a using a database in Access97, when they are working with some of the forms checking boxes or clicking on the pencil they get kicked out of Access. I have user under Windows NT 4.0 using the same database and they are not experiencing the same problem.
Any ideas? How can this problem be fixed?
