I have just done a clean install of XP on a clients Dell Optiplex GX620. All additional software, Sage, ACT etc works and integrates fine...however, since the rebuild this machine refuses to see his iPAQ 5550. It sees the USB cradle as an HP device but will not under any circumstances see the iPAQ. Have tried and failed with ActiveSync v's 3.7, 3.8(this was the version that worked prior to rebuild) and 4.0.

Not a lot to go on but I'd happily carry the embarrasment of having a very simple answer pointed out to me.

Thanks in advance.

I think you connected the phone without installing the drivers (from PC suite) that came with the phone.

May be when you installed the PC suite lateon its conflicting with the driver provided by Microsoft & HP.

Ideal solution would be to uninstall the PC suite, Active Syc and delete all folders of the PC suite and ActiveSync installation.

Then install in the following order:

a) Install the lates Active sync i think its 4.2
b) Reboot
c) Install the PC suite
d) Reboot or connect the phone if prompted.

Thanks for the reply but not sure about the PC Suite/Phone reference? The Ipaq 5550 is a PDA without any mobile phone capability.

I went through all the usual install and uninstalls but with no luck. Just for reference, the drivers and software for the ipaq were installed prior to connection.

Thanks again.

Do you have any othr m/c to test. If you never installed any HP PDA device on that then you can try.
