If I understand your problem correctly, you are trying to set up an HP 5p Scsi based scanner in WinXP. If so then you need to go to the following page and download the correct drivers for WIN XP and install them. once that is done you should be able to use the scanner as long as it is still working.
Thanks i have done this. The scanner is ok
i have done:
info:
the scsi card: Symbios 20402
I dit:
- installed the symbios scsi drivers: acording device manager is this a proper working device
-installed the w2k drivers >TH:IS the set you adviced me<
acoording to dev. man. => a proper working device
- started the WIA service ( windows image acquisition)
- did run from control panel the HP scanner test => the scanner is working properly
- did try to test the scsi card. but although it is to dev.man working fine the HP program does NOT find a scsi card.
Btw uing the HP setup the installer is asking for hpjsvxd exe and vxd. With are not in the file and not in driver.cab
I optained them from filesearching.com
But the Hp scannertest, from control pannel says that the scanner is working and so does device manager. But when i start the scanner program the scanner is unavaileble. The test prog from the HP scanning software does not find the scanner. The Hp test prog from control pannel does find the scanner en performes a succesfull test. While testing the lamp goes on and the sled is moving. after wich the HP testing prog says pased test the scanner is working, but strange enough the same programm does not find a scsi card....
I will work it out. (i could not open the link you send, so have to work through the site) [exuses for my English, i am not a native speaker :-( ]and that is more than just words. So many thanks!
I will post the results, but still wondering where i am going wrong. I seems i am doing the right procedure, and i know that the good old hp 5p can work under xp\2003 so i will won't it?
more tips? = nice.
I will anyway dig in to the adaptec tool
Yes I did, (btw many thanks for this site, for me a lot info, but first i focus on the scanner, I like the scanner, for me it is supurb and the hardware is ok so it can run, i am only overlooking something. I will report. More tips=nice
(because I know that a lot of guy's have it working, and sometimes the install of a scsi device can be nsty, you- in this case me- only have to use to apropiate procedure and tools)
